reoclo upgrade

reoclo upgrade [options]

Updates the CLI to the latest version on a channel, or prints the appropriate package-manager command if the binary is managed by Homebrew or npm.

Options

Flag	Default	Description
`--channel <name>`	`stable`	`stable`, `beta`, or `dev`.
`--version <ver>`	latest on channel	Pin to a specific version (e.g. `v0.9.0`).
`--check`	off	Only check the latest version; do not upgrade.

Examples

Check for an update without applying it:

$ reoclo upgrade --check
current: 0.9.0
latest:  v0.9.1

Apply the latest stable release:

reoclo upgrade

Switch to the beta channel:

reoclo upgrade --channel beta

Pin to a specific version:

reoclo upgrade --version v0.9.0

What it actually does

The behavior depends on how the CLI was installed:

Install method	Behavior
Homebrew	Runs `brew upgrade reoclo/tap/reoclo` for you. If brew is missing or fails, it prints the command and exits 1.
npm / pnpm / yarn	Runs the manager’s global install of the target version. Same fallback when the manager is missing or fails.
mise / asdf	Prints the install and use commands.
Curl / direct binary	Replaces the binary in place and keeps the previous binary next to it.

This delegation prevents version mismatches that would otherwise occur if the CLI overwrote a binary owned by a package manager.

Channel pointers

The CLI fetches the latest version for a channel from https://get.reoclo.com/cli/<channel> (a plain text file containing the tag). You can fetch the same value yourself:

Exit codes

Code	Meaning
0	Already on the latest version, the upgrade completed, or instructions were printed (mise/asdf).
1	The package manager was missing or failed, or the in-place replacement failed.
7	The CLI could not resolve the latest version.
